What is Foundations?

CrossFit CM2 Foundations will teach you proper technique on all fundamental movements we use in our programming. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Front Squat

  • Bench-Press
  • Lunge variations
  • The Snatch
  • The Clean & Jerk

Athletes can complete the Foundations requirement by attending our Foundations classes or through one-to-one personal training. During the sessions athletes will receive instruction in the areas outlined above. Under the guidance of our experienced coaches you’ll make new friends, improve your fitness and gain the skills and knowledge needed to progress to our mainstream classes. 

The foundations course is there to ensure that all participants know how to perform the movements safely. Using the correct technique ensures you get the most out of the program and are not a danger to yourself or other athletes. Some of the movements are complex and require a high-degree of coordination and body control: these movements are best taught in a special series of progressions which allows people to learn the movement patterns more easily. Athletes who have not gone through the learning progressions often develop flawed movements patterns which affects their performance in the longer term. Our Foundations Courses are on Tuesday & Thursday evenings at 8:00pm. There is also an optional Sunday session that can be used as an extra session or as a make-up if you miss one of the Tuesday or Thursday sessions.
